1) In the November 2007 edition of Architectural World, there was an ad by a company calledThermaShade. The advertisement read, "We offer a wide selection of energy-efficient products and innovative custom-crafted solutions, including the only thermally broken sunshade, our patent pending ThermaShade." So in this particular advertisement, they were advertising shades that are energy efficient. Although the ad did not explain much about this energy efficient sunshades, I think its a great innovation. The environment is one of the biggest concerns we have today and we should really try and do everything from it going bad.Incorporating sunshades that save energy in projects is a great way to start for the design field!
2) Another advertisement I found in the November 2007 edition of Architectural World, by a company called Eco Intelligence. Their advertisement states, "Eco Intelligence panel, seating, and cubicle curtain fabrics are about to wow you. Not just because they're the first fabrics certified MBDC Cradle to Cradle Gold and 100% non-toxic. But because they're as beautiful and durable as they are healthy and safe." So this company develops environmentally sustainable fabric...which sounds excellent. I think this will be a wonderful innovation as well. As long as it helps the environment, I don't think anything can really go wrong. This is another great way for the design field to start incorporating something that benefits the environment into their work.
