pattern preception

My urban landscape image

first iteration

second iteration

For our first assignment, "pattern perceptions", we had to find an image of an urban landscape and use our basic photoshop skills to develop that image into a Victorian design pattern. The urban landscape I chose was a photograph that was taken on 39th street in NYC. I mainly used the bridge and the road signs/traffic lights and focused on mirroring the images throughout my pattern.

manifesto

A simple design will speak to your audience with focus, strength, and clarity.

The artifact that I made consists of three planes that creates a triangle. A powerful geometric shape and the bold red color portrays a full bodied effect but yet the precision of a simple design.

computing and design

It is very difficult to deny that technology is just advancing more and more every day. As it becomes more useful, it starts to play a bigger role in our every day lives. As a result, we as designers have the opportunity to take a huge advantage of a tool that saves us the time and energy to creating our products. Since the ancient times, designers and architects have utilized many different types of tools. Computer programs (technology) that we have today are just another simple addition to the collection; a very powerful one. Programs such as AutoCAD, Photoshop, and Illustrator have the ability of perfecting our work without any hesitation while cutting the time in half. It is a magnificent tool for us to utilize, but relying on these programs so much can harm us badly. Balancing is KEY. I think it is important utilize and take advantage of these programs while perfecting our skills in hand-rendering and designing.
